Landscape Structures Introduces A Kaleidoscope Of New Colors
Delano, Minn. - Landscape Structures, a Delano, MN-based commercial playground equipment manufacturer, announced the introduction of several new playground colors along with a brilliant collection of palettes featuring nature-inspired shades, urban tones, playful hues and everything in between. The new playground colors, which were unveiled in January, will complement existing colors and playsystems while inspiring a unique play experience for children.

Playgrounds Too Safe To Keep Little Kids Active
Boring playgrounds may be one reason preschoolers aren't getting enough exercise, researchers found in interviews with childcare providers. Strict safety rules for equipment and low budgets at childcare centers were largely blamed for playgrounds that don't make kids feel like playing, Kristen Copeland, MD, of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, and colleagues reported.

Parks And Recreation Grants Available To Local Communities
Nashville — The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is now accepting applications for Local Parks and Recreation Fund grants to help communities create and expand parks and recreation services. The department is contacting local communities about the grant availability and will host a series of workshops throughout the state on Monday, Feb. 13, to help communities understand the application process. The application deadline is June 29, 2012.

LTR Products Joins KaBOOM! To Help Build New Playground For School In Hawaii
For the second year in a row, LTR Products will work with KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to saving play for America's children, to help build a new playground in Hawaii. This year, the playground will be built for the students at Ke Kula ‘o Samuel M. Kamakau Charter School in Kaneohe. LTR Products will supply 44,000 pounds of its brown Pinnacle Rubber Mulch to create the playground’s safety surfacing.

The New South Wales government is currently in the process of building a major regional playground in Blaxland Riverside Park, part of the Sydney Olympic Park. The location of the Summer Olympics in 2000, Sydney Olympic Park is located about 10 miles west of downtown Sydney.

On Sunday Oct. 9, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition introduced the world to the Rucker Family, a regular family from Georgia whose lives were changed when their little girl Anaiah was struck by a car while trying to save her sister. The show built a whole new home for the family designed to accommodate Anaiah’s wheelchair—including an ADA-compliant aquatic play pad in the backyard outfitted by Waterplay Solutions Corp.
